DVC Renters

If you might be wondering what DVC is or what DVC Rental is all about, check out the What Is DVC page for information. But let’s just say IYKYK (If you know, you know). One of the best and favoured ways for Non DVC Owners to vacation at a Deluxe Disney Resort is to rent spare points from DVC Owners. DVC Owners are permitted to ‘rent’ out their points as they wish and this could lead to $1,000s of savings for you when you compare against the best rates offered by Disney direct or when booking through an online booking engine.

Since its inception in 2014, we have built a community on our dedicated Facebook Group with membership now in excess of 38,000 and growing by more than 1.000 new members every month. The group consists of both Owners and Potential Renters. This means that as a renter, once you have joined our Facebook Group, you can make a post asking for the resort, type of room and dates you are looking for and receive offers from Owners who are ready, willing and able to accommodate your request. You can also view the posts that Owners have made offering either confirmed reservations or points to rent. Some constraints exist as far as “booking windows” for DVC resorts based on the Owner’s Home Resort. Bookings can be made at 11 months if Owners own at that resort, and 7 months for other resorts. There is no fee to use this service, the group is operated by a small team of dedicated volunteers who are also like minded owners and experienced renters.

There are commercial alternatives out in the market – Middlemen, or brokers – and it may seem more appealing to use these services. There really is no need, you can cut out the middleman and access owners directly and more quickly. You can agree to the terms of your own deal that benefit both you and the owner you are renting from.

Each DVC Room is rated for a maximum number of occupants (aged 3 and over at check-in date) and these cannot be exceeded. Nor should you try to find a way to circumvent these rules. Please ensure you check and understand the maximum occupancy for the resort you are wanting to book. There are some differences between similar rooms on different DVC Properties.

Payment options, payment terms and all other aspects of your deal are usually determined by the owner, but you can discuss this with the owner once you’ve found a match. As a renter , it is key that you undertake due diligence to ensure you are comfortable with the Owner you have matched with. We have no ability to vet Owners ourselves. You can ask for references from the Owner as well as potentially checking for proof of DVC Ownership, which for Central Florida DVC Properties, can usually be fairly quickly and easily verified on the OCC Comptroller Website; for other regional DVC ownership verification, please review the DVC Ownership Check page. Once both you and your Owner are happy with each other, along with any terms that you’ve agreed upon, you can continue to make the deal.

Owners will make the booking on behalf of the renter. The owner will need details from you about ALL of the people who will be staying in the room you are booking. This will include Full Names of ALL Travelers (as per government ID for adults), Home Address, Email and Telephone Number of the lead traveler (who must be over 18) and then ages of any person who will be under 18 at the time of arrival. Once the booking is made, the owner should provide the renter with the booking reference number and the renter will be able to take that booking reference, and add it to the MDE (My Disney Experience App/Website). This will unlock options for the renter to make their own arrangements such as Dining and Park Reservations, as Owners are unable to do this for Renters. There are a few things that only the owner will be able to add such as Disney Dining Packages.

The owner will still retain full control over the booking and ultimately is able to change or cancel the booking. Obviously, trustworthy and responsible owners would only do this in conjunction with the wishes of the renter. But it is for this reason it is so important that you do your due diligence and check the Owner is who they claim to be and that you have checked references.

It’s just that easy to save $1,000’s on your next Disney Vacation staying at a DVC Deluxe Resort!
